This 400-acre facility just south of Des Moines seems like a whole new world for the impoverished, abused or neglected children it serves from across the state. The goal of Wildwood Hills Ranch is to make a positive impact in the lives of these children by providing life-changing opportunities and programs. Homeless teens walk the streets of Des Moines struggling to survive, looking for money and a way to numb the pain of their past. Through the faith-based efforts of Freedom for Youth Ministries, volunteers offer encouragement and role modeling to these lost youth – allowing them to experience the love they have been missing in their lives. Youth enrolled in the Freedom program develop and implement a plan for education, employment, housing and life skills.
